Meet the San Juan Island Air Staff

Jack Hauilton

Jack started San Juan Island Air after moving to San Juan Island in 1991 with just herself and a single Cessna aircraft doing flight instruction and aircraft charters. Over the past decade, Jack's on-demand aircraft charter business has grown to six planes, a 8-member team that includes the Island's most experienced local pilots, and a private hanger facility including aircraft maintenance.
An accomplished aviatrix, Jack has logged over 7,500 flight hours and she is both a single and multi-engine instrument flight instructor. Owning and operating a true family business, Jack brings her eight-year-old copilot (Cole) and her two golden retrievers (Spencer and Madison) to her hanger each day.

Ashley Gosselin

Ashley grew up on Lopez Island near a grass strip called Windsock Farms, where he loved watching Aeronautical Services' DeHavilland Otter fly in and out. He received an AirHawk Scholarship and learned to fly right there at Windsock. He went on to earn a BS degree in Flight Technology from Central Washington University, and prior to joining San Juan Island Air, Ashley flew a Cessna 172 and 206 throughout the San Juan Islands area for Billmeyer Enterprises. He now lives in Friday Harbor.

Bob Jamieson

Bob is our Chief Pilot. After flying many different airplanes during 25 years with American Airlines, he retired as a captain on the Boeing 777. Bob also served 5 years in the US Army, including a tour in Vietnam where he worked as a forward air controller. He's an active flight instructor, and a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Bob is an avid member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, and has built or restored at least five airplanes over the years. Although it seems to many of us that he's always at the airport, Bob actually lives in Friday Harbor - literally in the harbor - on a 41-foot motor yacht.

Tom Schramm

"Schrambo" is a native New Yorker who moved to the west coast twenty years ago. Tom has been flying since 1976, and has logged nearly 5,000 flight hours across the United States - from snow-packed runways in New England to the heat of the desert Southwest. Tom is a veteran flight instructor and has also worked for Scenic Airlines in Las Vegas, where he flew the DeHavilland Twin Otter to destinations like the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. He lives in the San Juan Valley, just outside Friday Harbor, and when he's not flying for San Juan Island Air, you might find Tom flying his Mooney 201, playing golf, or working around the house with his wife Dee and their dog Boo.

George Mulligan

George has been flying for 40 years. The bulk of his flying has been on the east coast, where he piloted twins including Beech Barons and Aero Commanders on frequent trips between New Hampshire and Washington, DC for many years. He spent four years flying the DeHavilland Beaver for Kenmore Air before joining San Juan Island Air. George can often be found flying around Friday Harbor airport in his aerobatic Pitts Special biplane.

Jim Gruneisen

Jim has over three thousand hours of flying experience, and over a thousand hours of that time is experience working as a flight instructor. He has flown single engine, multi engine, land and seaplanes across the US, Western Canada, Alaska, and Baja. Jim has homes in both Friday Harbor and in Northern Califoria, and he commutes between them in his twin-engine Beech Baron. You can visit Jim's website at http://www.flyjim.com.
