San Juan Island Air Chartering a Flight: A Guide to Passenger Information and Reservations
Chartering a flight can be a great option for those looking for flexibility and convenience when traveling. However, it's important to understand the ins and outs of the process, including passenger information and reservations, in order to have a stress-free and enjoyable experience. In this article, we'll cover everything you need to know about scheduling your flight, confirmations and cancellations, on-time performance, payments, safety, international flights to and from Canada, stand-by flights, parking, check-in and baggage, and ground transportation.

Scheduling Your Flight
When chartering a flight, it's important to schedule in advance, especially during busy summer months, to ensure you can fly on the day and time you want. Scheduled charters require a credit card guarantee, and credit card charges are made at the time of the flight. If you're arriving at a major airport prior to your flight with us, please provide your airline, flight number, and scheduled arrival time so we can monitor your flight progress and adjust our schedule if you're delayed. If you carry a cell phone or have access to voice mail, please let us know in case we need to contact you.

Confirmations and Cancellations
To confirm your reservation, please notify us 24 hours prior to your flight. Reservations cancelled with less than 24 hours advance notice will be charged a $50 fee. No-show passengers will be charged the full charter amount.

On-Time Performance
We pride ourselves on consistently achieving a better than 95% on-time performance level for our customers. In order to continue to maintain this level of service, our normal stand-by charge will apply if customers are more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled charter flight, and we are not advised in advance of the delay.

Payments
We accept cash, local checks, traveler's checks, VISA, and MasterCard. House accounts are available for frequent customers.

Safety
Safety is our number one concern, and at times weather may affect our flight operations. For your convenience, we obtain weather outlook briefings after 4:00 p.m. the day prior to your flight, and will attempt to advise you in advance if weather is likely to be a factor.

International Flights To and From Canada
If you're flying to destinations within Canada, you must be prepared to clear customs upon entering Canada and returning to the U.S. A valid Passport is now required for international passengers. Please note there are strict rules and limits on the carriage of alcohol, tobacco, business materials, and firearms. For more information on these limitations, please visit the Canadian Customs and Revenue Agency's website, Information for visitors to Canada and follow the "Information for visitors to Canada and seasonal residents" link. Our U.S. customs locations require us to schedule clearances in advance. Prompt arrivals and departures are critical for international flights, and custom authorities have little tolerance for passengers who are delayed. Please note we are not allowed to conduct nighttime flight operations in Canada. Passengers who are not US or Canadian citizens must obtain a VISA and VISA Waiver before booking a charter flight from Canada to the U.S..

Stand-By Flights
For some customers, it is more economical to charter a flight and have the aircraft and pilot stand-by before returning. For these customers, an additional stand-by fee of $60 per hour is charged.

Parking
Parking is available at our Friday Harbor hangar, but port fees apply if parking longer than 24 hours. Please contact us for more information on parking.

Check-In and Baggage
Because you're chartering, there's no need to check-in early, but please advise us as soon as possible if you are delayed for any reason. Soft-sided luggage is preferred and total weight should not exceed 30 pounds per person. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate large suitcases and over-sized cargo, and that a $25 surcharge will apply for luggage pieces over 50 pounds in weight.

Ground Transportation
We can arrange ground transportation for most out-bound flights from the San-Juans. For Seattle-bound passengers, we can arrange for an economical limousine service to meet your aircraft immediately after landing. For all other locations, we can arrange for a cab to meet you after arrival. For transportation between Sea-Tac and Boeing Field, we recommend A&M Town Cars, (206) 371-6666. It customarily takes approximately 12 minutes to drive between Sea-Tac and Boeing Field. The taxi or town car charge is approximately $35. For flights inbound to the San Juans, we have found it is best for you to arrange your own ground transportation. For passengers arriving in Friday Harbor, we can have a local cab or rental car waiting for you at our hangar upon landing.

Contacting Us
All of our pilots and staff carry cell phones while on duty. If you need to get in contact with us, simply call our hangar at 1-888-378-2377 and, if after-hours, please leave a message. We do check messages throughout the evening if we are expecting a call from a delayed passenger.
In summary, chartering a flight can provide you with flexibility and convenience when traveling, but it's important to understand the passenger information and reservation process to have a successful experience. Scheduling your flight in advance, confirming your reservation, understanding on-time performance, and ensuring safety are all important factors to consider. Additionally, understanding international flights to and from Canada, stand-by flights, parking, check-in and baggage, and ground transportation can all help make your experience smoother. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to helping you with your charter flight needs.
